Jam Packed Preserves Limited is a family run business owned by Sue and Kevin Woodward. We make an extensive range of artisan, award-winning extra jams, jellies, marmalades, chutneys and curds. We lovingly hand-stir our preserves in small batches in open pans. Our story began in 2006. We took on an allotment that had a large stand of autumn raspberries that produced a glut of fruit. We hate food waste, but couldn’t eat them all, so Sue telephoned her Mum and asked how to make jam. The rest is history!
Our first attempt at raspberry jam went well so we moved onto make more with other family recipes. We gave away our products to friends and family to start with, then we began selling a few jars in support of local schools and charities. Sue’s PhD got in the way for a while, but we decided to make this into a family business in the summer of 2014 and our story continues.
We aim to produce artisan preserves ‘to die for’ that are jam packed with fruit and jam packed with flavour. They are hand-stirred from traditional family recipes in small batches; just like Grandma used to make. We produce superior quality preserves using hand-picked local ingredients whenever possible that keep customers coming back for more.
Our extra jams and jellies contain high quantities of fruit per 100g and our customers have described these as “The best jam I have ever tasted”. But don’t take their word for it. Before we started selling our preserves, we won many prizes at local Village Shows and Sue was the runner up in the South East Regional heat of the BBC Great British Village Show (2007) in the “Jar of Strawberry Jam” class.
All of our preserves are plant based and all except one or two are suitable for vegans. We are constantly working to be more sustainable in all aspects of our business. We have reduced food waste and single use plastic.
